Montblanc was founded in Germany in 1906 and has gained the enviable position as the world’s most prestigious writing instrument maker. Over the past fifty years, Montblanc has diversified its product offerings to include other men’s and women’s luxury accessories such as fine jewelry, designer eyewear, fragrances, and even leather goods; such as wallets and briefcases. Montblanc is now far from just a fine pen maker. Its name is recognized as complete luxury brand.
In 1997, Montblanc’s directors crossed the border into Switzerland to commission their very first Swiss wristwatch. Montblanc oversaw production as the Swiss craftsmen designed “The Meisterstuck Watch” to carefully mirror the high quality of all other items in Montblanc’s manufacture. “The Meisterstuck Watch” was so well received by Montblanc’s elite customer base that Montblanc’s directors immediately expanded their watch line.
Montblanc’s current family of ladies and gents watches include Villeret, Timewalker, Star, Profile, Summit and Sport. Montblanc’s designs range from sporty, modern, and classic elegance. All Montblanc watches enjoy “practical necessities” like date wheels, sapphire crystals and water resistance of at least 100 meters. The esthetic of all Montblanc watches share a true hand-finished quality and high-end feel. If Montblanc could only use one word to describe their brand’s most important attribute, it would be the word “Quality.”
Montblanc is truly enjoying its success as a quality watchmaker. It has made a substantial investment to evolve and expand its watch line to its select luxury patrons. Its 2009 watch line has introduced an elaborate series of in-house movements with extremely complicated mechanisms. Montblanc has created both Monopusher Chronographs and GMTs, painstakingly made of solid 18k gold and even platinum; the most difficult metal to anneal.
