ORBITA WATCH WINDERS

Orbita started in 1996 with one single patent created by company founder, Charles “Chuck” Agnoff, a retired American engineer whose hobby was collecting fine watches. Agnoff’s niche-market creation was an innovative solution to a watch collector’s century-old dilema of how to keep an automatic watch wound when it was not on its owner’s wrist. Agnoff’s new creation “the watchwinder” would end the tedious & repetitive need to reset an automatic watch’s time, day, date, month and moonphase.

Orbita is truly the technically-evolving leader of the watchwinding industry. Orbita watchwinders have a sophisticated microprocessor that controls its programmable internal drive to run in the ideal direction (or bi-direction) and provide the needed “turns per day” for optimal & safe winding for an owner’s specific watch. Unknowingly to many watch afficionados, not all fine watches wind the same way or need the same winds per day. An Orbita watchwinder is fully & exactly programmed to your specific watch as set by its particular manufacturer. Since the company was founded in 1996, it has achieved seemingly impossible feats every year and set the industry standard for what a watchwinder should do. For example, in 1999, Orbita painstakingly compiled a “winding requirement database” of thousands of Swiss, German & Italian mechanical watches. In 2000, Orbita created & patented “The Sempre”; the very first watchwinder for winding hand-wound watches. In 2004, Orbita created “The Orbita Clockwinder”; a powered device for winding longcase floor & wall clocks that have hanging weights. In 2005, Orbita created a watchwinder to care for the most lusted-after mechanism; The Tourbillon. The company’s founder & once retired engineer is busier than ever -and from all appearances, seems to be having the time of his life with his new found profession.

Orbita’s fine, hand crafted watchwinders & travel cases are carefully manufactured in Switzerland. They are available in fine leather, multi-layered lacquered wood and/or a full range of exotic woods. Their watchwinders are designed to hold one watch -or as many as forty. Orbita’s “Voyager” is a special compact cylindrical design winder created to travel with you. Orbita also makes winders that can be put away in your personal safe or be on museum-like prominent display in your home or office. Orbita’s “Bergamo” watchwinder with 40 “heads” is concealed inside a large, locked Italian-made cabinet. It features a remote-controlled motorized lift; that raises your collection upward into view upon demand. It is truly impressive!
